A. Yes, they will perfectly work online. The only thing is that only you will see them, unless the person you are brawling with also has the texture(s).

A. Short answer: no. There’s no way this can brick your Wii.
Q. Do I need a modchip to use the textures? If no, what do I need?
A. No, you do not need any modchip but that doesn’t mean you cannot use one to texture hack. What you need though, is the homebrew channel, an ISO of brawl and the backup loader. (You just use an SD Card and File Patch code) For more information about how to install/get those, ask me.

Okay coins I know your problem. Had the same problem. But what you wanna do is go back into the guide where it tells you type everything for ntcompress copy that, open up note pad, backspace until there all on the sam line and space to make sure that its all spaced on the same line. Example:
ntcompress -l -o Link.txt -A4 -t1 -s -H FitLink00new.pac
^ Just like that only insert your characters name and stuff it.

You know when you use SSBExtract and in the end you can have 3 folder. Texture, palletes and 3DModels.
I have already got some 3D models ffrom the internet and i’m looking on obtaining the other ones.
I want to use 3D models so i can preview my textures before i go though all the hassle of putting them in the game.

Before we can convert the images back into .tpl files, we have to create a file telling TexConv how to convert each texture. Released with this tutorial was a .txt file named “TCS Guide”. Open it. It should contain the following:

Making a .tcs is a piece of cake.
Just copy paste this in notepad
file 0 = Location of the .tga file
image 0 = 0, 0, CMPR
texture 0 = 0, x
For me it would be, for the eyes opened texture:
file 0 = C:\Brawl ISO\BigSharkZ’s textures\SHOOP DA WOOP KIRBY!\Eyes1\tex#00_14.tga
image 0 = 0, 0, CMPR
texture 0 = 0, x
Then, save it as a .tcs file.
Keep the notepad window opened, just change the location and save it as another .tcs, until you’re done doing all of them.
To convert them, use TexConv.exe. Remember to put it in the same folder as your .tcs files.
It will ask you for the name of the file, type “name here”.tcs and press Y to confirm.

That means you did something wrong when hexing. As, in you accidently deleted part of the .pac that you shouldn’t of. XD! Hope this helps!

You can use a USB Gecko to do it but a way to use Gecko OS only is being worked on.
i’m in double debt to you guys for leading me to pharrox’s guide and letting us make textures with USB gecko.

ASH is easier but ASH 2.0 doesn’t work that well on some characters. Also it’s easy to use.

I need help hacking kirby. I am following ]EE[‘s guide and at the “Repacking the textures without TCS Editor portion. When I make the .tpl files for kirby’s normal eyes they are 9 kb, instead of the normal 3kb. His skin went from 1kb to 16kb. Is he mipmapped or did I make a mistake?

You are 100% doing it wrong. It only has mipmaps if it is SMALLER.
Also why are you doing it manually? Just use ASH. It’s works perfectly for kirby.
I’m sure that the only character it doesn’t work for is Sonic and Toon Link.
I got the pacs from pharrox and SSBExtract already seperated them. Ash won’t let me skip the first step.

You guys could pretty easily release .pcs files like Stack Smash did. We know where to put them now, and how to convert some to .pac and such. (You’ll need to release a couple .pac files, for Pokemon Trainer FS and such…) It should be very easy to use wiiscrubber and right click a pcs file, hit save, and put it somewhere, then upload onto a site and put the link here.
Though there’s been a large threat against the community lately were generally not too scared.
Were moving to a new server just like Stack Smash has. There we should be safe from any server owners getting scared.
But if worst comes to worst you can always find me at Yourtube or DeviantArt.
I want to reframe from giving my textures until they’re done. Even if Shark would like me to do otherwise.

One question, when you did the update of Metal Sonic, you said that the only way of fixing his chest was removing the reflection… how do you remove the reflection?
You can’t really get rid of it. Sure you can get rid of the reflection but the chest will still show up with an outline.
You can use transparency on things to make them seem “removed”.

Just open Wii Scrubber 1.21, be sure to have they key.bin, find your character’s pac and pcs, right-click them, replace them with your own .pac and .pcs, close Wii Scrubber, burn your ISO, play it with CIOSCORP or the backup launcher.

As for joining, we currently don’t really need members. But I do need someone who is ready to hex something from 3:30 pm to 10:30 pm, at any time between those hours. I got a question. I know brawl needs a double layer DVD-R to put it on, but is it possible to use a double layer DVD+RW so that you can make textures, and re-write the game on the DVD+RW instead of burning a new double layer DVD-R each time?

Hey ASH v. 2.2 says that some textures have erronuous colors. What does that mean? It occurs for Toon Link, Metaknight’s eyes and Sonic. I am using Gimp 2.

Its supposed to be the sub space emissary texture file for Rayquaza in the lake stage, at least that’s what it said when I downloaded it.
it said Shiny Rayquaza, and I extracted it, and it has that, so I just put it on my SD card in the place it said to put it, and it doesn’t work.
Everything else works fine, all the characters, item textures. just the boss textures don’t work for some reason.

i tried to use the giygas final destination and it froze the game and corrupted the wii memory so i dont have luigi’s mansion anymore. how do i fix it?

This happened to me too (not with giygas final destination) , I used the Luigi’s Mansion My Music Reset code and worked again perfectly.

Lmao, you never knew about this? It’s like in melee. If you finish the mode on normal/hard/intense without losing a life or under a set time, you will get to battle both.

Alright I have a problem. How do you change Ike’s eye color? I keep getting an errorneous colors error or w/e.

when u open the file does it have a +2 or +1 at teh end of it? if so, you’ll have to color the area around the eye magenta. 1st go to image > Color table and enter in this for the color red-255 green-0 blue-255, then you you have to select teh black part of teh image with teh magic wand tool, and color it in with that color using the paintbrush. then when youre done, go to Image > indexed color and when teh window comes up, click okay. then that should work

Hey i’m having real problems with my texture hack i’ve created it but I can’t get step two of ASH to work i’ve tried everything I could think of. If no one can figure out what’s wrong with it can I e-mail the texture to someone and see if they can fix the problem?

Get StrapEn.pac (Fit Artifex and Power Nation have one available) and run it through ASH like normal. (Directory is menu > strap > StrapEn.pac)

Your textures are making me relive brawl and I’m happy for ever touching my wii again…, but a major problem I have is some situation with random freezing in the game due to these textures. I DO rename the files according to the costume value i wanted and as wished, all the textures show perfectly with the choices I made. With all the freezing going on, I followed this really hassling method of avoiding it (played with one texture per map, waited 5 seconds per character choice and 30 seconds before each match), but the frozen screen and awful sound would show up eventually.
This also happens with a friend I have, so I’m sure we’re not the only ones with this problem. I don’t have “an ISO of brawl and the backup loader” and do not know what they are or why i need them. I also did not use this Wiiscrubber 1.21 and Lz77Ex I hear about. Seems like nobody has explained the full purposes of these apps and i don’t want to waste time getting them for no solution.
It’s a lot to read but I’d be grateful if anybody would help me through this situation. This texture thing really helps me love the game. Thanks.
Assuming all the files are 100% correct make sure the file is compatiable with Gecko os. Becuse Stages like Gygas Destanation will freeze and can mess up the game but that can be fixed. Go into my music and click on every single stage if the game frezes when you click on a stage it means the music was messed up and can be fiexed by using the My music reset codes (I posted them on the music page) If that does not work make sure the files are set up like this (i’ll use ike as an example)
Privite>Wii>APP>RSBE>PF>Fighter>Ike>FITIKE00.PAC
Make sure ur not naming it fitike00.pac.pac if it’s allready a .pac file type you don’t allways need to put the .pac at the end.
Thanks, but the my music idea didn’t seem to work. I had never hacked any music files if that was what you thought. Just several characters, a few stages, and a stage builder stage and parts. No file extensions were repeated btw. I sometimes could get through a full match with textures on and other times I can’t. It is just random freezing here and there.
I tried something new by removing all the TGA files on the card, but I had the same results if not worse results than before. I’ve only tested them in basic brawl matches and in the training room. What I’ve noticed is that some of my texture files are PAC files despite being on characters that supposedly do not need them (Snake and Link). Could that be part of the problem? Or could it be the 3.5.1 file patch–should I use an earlier file patch if I’m not interested in hacking music?

the .pac file for every character contains there moveset data and physics for that character. They r altered in a way so the character has less landing lag and moves faster. Attacks flow more smoothly also. So in short no don’t remove them.

Hi, I wanted to ask about the names on the textures. Sometimes, when I name them (Fit______XX.psc), the numbers don’t correspond to the correct placements. I’m not exactly sure why, but some go where they are supposed to, and some just don’t. I was wondering if every character is slightly different, or if I’m doing something wrong.

A. No, you do not need any modchip but that doesn’t mean you cannot use one to texture hack. What you need though, is the homebrew channel, an ISO of brawl and the backup loader. For more information about how to install/get those, ask me.

i cant seem to get my wii to read the texture hacks. my code manager has the only downloaded code i can find for brawl, but the code doesnt include texture hacks. it has texture swapping, character/texture swapping, and costume replacement. i tried the first two, and they did not work. does the last one sound like the right one? its really confusing to me and i cant get it to work.
just wondering but in Brawlbox I was trying to make a playable koopa and it works but whenever I try to make it walk it just plays the walking animation and it dosent go anywhere. any help?

Hi, since this the F.A.Q section, I would like to ask, is there a way to put a moveset hack seperated to one color change of a character? Or does it have to be used by all color changes. Let’s say I have a textureof Fierce Deity Marth and I want to seperate the moveset I downloaded from here called Assassin Marth I think it was, just for him and not the other textures. Is that possible?

u cant, some textures, especially face textures (except snakes), r mirrored. There is a way to make it not miror but it is complicated and involves hexing and crap and even if u manage to do it the other half of his face will just be white and have no textures on it.

My question: I gave FitSheik00.pac Link’s model and textures and it works if I start with Sheik. I can also change to Zelda without problems, but if I change from Sheik to Zelda the game freezes. Help please!

I recently added newer textures but when I go to the brawl screen it will show the OLD textures in the screen where you select the colour, but as I’m playing it will show the new textures,

Hey igot question i want to use my waluigi hack thats on a red alloy but i cant get the alloys playable. the texture wroks on them when i play 100 man brawl but i can get him as a choosable character plz helP!
I’m not well conditioned in this practice, but I’ve been using brawlbox and have ran into a snag. I can’t seem to get any texture to work with Bowser that I make. Anything I make doesn’t show up on Brawl even though most others that I’ve downloaded work. Is there some prejudice concerning Bowser that I’m unaware of?
Is there a guide out there for how to make the stages like this?
Is it just at textured stage builder thing? Or is it a whole new stage? I know how to edit stages like FD and change the platforms in it but I don’t know how to add the appearence of new platforms.

i got it to appear in brawlbox, but my friend tested it for me and it was pure white, i tested it and it froze. i just want the character to appear without motionect or psa to go with it. what do i need to do? do i need to rename bones or something like that?

use the bone adder tool to add bones to the model ur putting over the character so the number of bones exceeds the number of bones for the character the model will go over.
like for my Deoxys I added bones to that model so it surpasses the number of jiggs bones (76 bones to 70 bones)

yes there is a way but u have to edit the vertex points for the costume to do so. So in ur case u will have to edit sonics spines to look like shadows spines on one costume then u can pose them together.

you mean the vertex points in sonic.pac be cause i downloaded rosalina.pac and in brawl box it looks like her but when i put it in brawl it was still peach not even the texture changed after wards i added the motion file and it till wasn’t working any idea what went wrong?
never mind about my peach/rosalina problem i fixed that. i under stan how it works now so i all i gotta do is wait for a vertex edited shadow .pac and .pcs to be released

Hey, I’m new to replacing files on the SD card. Right now, I’m trying to replace a Viewtiful Joe vertex hack over Captain Falcon, but it only came with the .pcs . The game freezes if I replace Pokémon Trainer´s model with Ike´s model. What do I have to do? I use BrawlBox by the way.
When using textures do you need both the .pcs and .pac. I downloaded a Mr. L texture that came with both, used just the pcs, and it worked fine.

I tried to use blender but the set up is too hard for me to use.
i’d do 3ds max but it to much info to fill in just to get a demo.
i have another program called gamestudio a6 which can edit 3ds files but the das donkey program always screws up when i use it and blender.

BlameCanada, just put the file into the same folder that you put textures. (Although vertex hacks belong on only one costume.)

i’m new to verticing, i found out how to open the files in blender and move the vertices, (kinda :/, can’t find an actuall tutorial for that part) but when i finnish with the vertice hack and insert it on the model it explodes with infinate lines! i don’t know what i’m doing wrong, can any one help? if u need me to i can send a pic of the problem.
